A Brick Wall Electrical Box Cover

Don't you just love it when something that happens by accident ends up being perfect. We are still working on our yard , I look forward to the day we reach maintenance stage, but we are still in the tweaking stage.

I had painted a peg board blue!

We have the outdoor electrical box in our yard! Yeah super ugly. Not only is it ugly, you can't build anything permanent too close to it, the electric company has to be able to get to the box at any given time. Well we tried to paint it and still hated it. (Then I started using it to paint on!) We planted pampas grass in front of it and although it covered the box, it almost overtook the yard. I looked online to see what other people had done and there was everything from a painted mural to a faux rock that fit over it. Nothing that appealed to us. So when we were redoing the patio, we had plenty of pavers left over after we built the walk on the side of the house. We were trying to decide what to do with the rock and I suggested we build a brick wall around the box, just until we came up with a solution for what to do with the extra pavers and the box! Well you guessed it, we love it. We dry laid the pavers and built the wall to cover two sides. Because it is dry laid, the electrical people can get to it, even if they knock it down, no big deal!

Laying the brick!

Instead of an ugly eye sore it now looks intentional. I set a fern on top and although several people have been over, no one guessed it was the electrical box. It has gone from something I hated seeing to an attractive feature in our yard. I just love it when that happens.
