What a Difference a Week Can Make

On Wednesday of the week we were in Seattle a friend texted me and said a house was just listed on her street. Now we weren't looking and had decided not to look until spring unless the perfect place came along. But when we received the address we took a peek. Can you say fixer upper? The house is 50 plus years old and had only been updated with carpet in the 80's, nothing else. The layout was a little choppy and there was no true master by today's standard, but we really liked it! It is in a quiet neighborhood closer to church for Wonderful and closer to Darling Daughter's school AND it is on a lot that is almost an acre!!!!!

The Great House but Not the Perfect House

After returning home I called our realtor, who is also our friend and neighbor, and scheduled a showing. On Monday following we met him there and took a look. It was in better shape than we expected (we knew it needed a roof), overall it was very solid. Immediately we knew we loved it and after praying about it overnight, there had been much praying going on this whole time, we decided to make an offer. Tuesday the paperwork was drawn up and submitted, Tuesday evening there was a verbal acceptance of our offer, with completion of official paperwork signed by Wednesday! One week from the day we received a text saying there is a house on our street!

The Forever Fixer Upper House
(This is a view of the back of the house, I didn't have one of the front.)
It has been a crazy stretch, but we are so excited. Yes we are moving from a "perfect" completed modern home with every amenity by today's standard to a house that is out of date, needs lots and lots and lots of work and is several hundred square feet smaller and we couldn't be happier. Many people think we are crazy, and that is ok we are looking forward to our making our project house our own! There will be things that won't be completed for years and things that have to be completed before we move in like a new roof. I can't wait to show you around, but that will have to wait. We have a house to sell!

  1. It looks almost like a cottage from the back view pictures, Susan! I love the mature trees you have on the property, too. Is that first picture your current home? It's funny how sometimes you come upon the perfect home. It sounds like this was meant to be!
